Mould on walls and ceilings and tiles in bathrooms.
Mould on surfaces in a bathroom is typically surface mould caused by condensation and lack of ventilation and lack of a cleaning regime. Mould removal can all be done yourself or by a cleaner.

1. Mould does not need to be killed. It needs to be removed. Once removed it cannot sporulate (produce spores).

2. Safety. Many people are allergic to mould spores. Protect your breathing especially while cleaning. The cheapest solution is a P2 dust mask. They are HEPA if they fit properly. Goggles that fit tightly can help as well. Rubber or nitrile gloves

3. Chemicals. I use sugar soap and lots of elbow grease. It isn’t complicated. Just clean the surfaces.

4. Remediation. Once the bathroom mould is removed the mould spores remain with mycotoxins intact. The easiest and cheapest solution is strong ventilation. The approved method is physical removal by vacuuming and wiping. Bear in mind that mould spores travel and cross contaminate other parts of the structure and contents.

5. Prevention. Ventilation and a regular cleaning regime. I find that gloss paint in a wet area makes them extremely easy to clean.

6. Bleach (sodium hypochlorite) removes stains and that is great. I have been taught that it deactivates when it touches organic matter. Vinegar is a mild anti microbial that microbiologists are recommending for mould spores but I use vinegar mainly on hot chips.
